There's Nothing Plastic About Our Commitment To The Earth
In support of Plastic-Free July, we’re sharing some of the actionable steps we’re taking in partnership with CleanHub, to reduce a major skincare industry byproduct: plastic waste.
The Problem With Plastic
Plastic keeps our food fresh, our clothes elastic, and our beauty products in place. But despite recycling efforts, most plastic gets burned or piled onto landfills, eventually making its way to the oceans. 80% of the waste that ends up in the ocean is non-recyclable and more than 90% sinks so deep it can never be recovered.
At Esker, we’ve made a point to use as little plastic as possible and when we do its curbside recyclable PET or other PCR materials.
How to Recycle Your Esker Products
However there are still things we can't solve for (like non-recyclable pumps) so we joined CleanHub to take immediate action.
We are Plastic Neutral+!
Through our partnership with CleanHub, we help take immediate action and collect plastic waste before it can enter the most precious ecosystem on earth. For every pound of plastic we create, we sponsor the women-led organization, Green Worms in Kerala, India, to remove two pounds of ocean-bound plastic from the environment. This creates an incentive for non-recyclable plastic collection and supports micro-economies in developing countries.

Taking Action with Green Worms
Green Worms Waste Management organizes door-to-door waste collection services across southern India, with the help of local women-led groups. (From an environmental point this is the best way as plastic never enters the environment in the first place.)
Through resources provided by CleanHub, Green Worms then sorts and transports the waste to their appropriate processing facilities - ensuring that recyclable and non-recyclable materials are being properly directed.

The Complete Guide to Dry Brushing & Body Exfoliation
Dry brushing is exactly what it sounds like: you take a brush with natural, stiff bristles and brush your dry skin in long, sweeping strokes before you shower. It's one of the oldest forms of body exfoliation — versions of it have been practiced in Ayurvedic medicine, ancient Greek bathhouses, and Japanese bathrooms for centuries. -

Mother's Day Should Happen at Night — and It Should Last Forty Minutes
The gift she should receive at this hour is a bath — and there is a real, biological reason it works better at night than at any other point in the day. The body's core temperature rises in the bath and falls again about an hour after she steps out, and that drop is one of the strongest cues the brain reads as a signal to sleep. -
The Magic of Magnesium
The Magnesium Bath Enhancer is a different kind of product. It's a concentrated liquid made with magnesium chloride (a form the skin takes up far more efficiently than sulfate), paired with a blend of naturally occurring plant terpenes that help carry the minerals deeper through the skin barrier.
