The Bath Enhancer That Sold Out — And the Story Behind Its Return

The Bath Enhancer That Sold Out — And the Story Behind Its Return

The real story behind the Magnesium Bath Enhancer relaunch.

Magnesium Bath Enhancer - Esker

The Magnesium Bath Enhancer sold out every time we made it. People were obsessed. So we pulled it off the shelves — on purpose. Here’s the full story.

The product people loved (that we couldn’t keep making)

In 2023, we launched the first liquid magnesium soak designed for both hot and cold water. It was a first-of-its-kind product — ultra-concentrated, instant-dissolving, and wildly effective. It sold out immediately. Then again. And again.

But behind the scenes, we had a problem.

The formula was volatile. It was so concentrated and so unlike anything else on the market that it was genuinely hard to keep stable in the bottle. Every batch was a challenge. The formula worked beautifully in the tub — but manufacturing something this concentrated and this new meant inconsistency we couldn’t accept.

We couldn’t scale it the way it deserved. Not without compromising what made it special. So we made the hard call.

“We created something people loved, but we couldn’t scale it. The formula was so concentrated and first-of-its-kind that we had to re-engineer how to bottle it — so we could bring it to everyone.”

— Shannon Davenport, Founder & CEO

What nearly two years in the lab looked like

What started as a quick fix became a nearly two-year reformulation. The goal was simple — but not easy:

Stabilize the formula without diluting it.

We had to figure out how to tame something that didn’t want to be tamed — without losing the concentration, without losing the transdermal absorption, and without losing the experience that made people fall in love with it in the first place.

The result: a product that’s more consistent, more stable, and ready to scale — while being every bit as concentrated and effective as the version that kept selling out. Actually, more so.

Why through the skin — not a pill

This is the part that matters most.

Magnesium is involved in 300+ biochemical reactions in the body. Muscle contraction, nerve function, stress response, sleep. An estimated 50% of Americans are deficient. And most oral supplements? They’re tough on digestion, and studies suggest as little as 20–50% of what you swallow actually gets absorbed.

Your skin is different. It’s the body’s largest organ, and it offers a direct route for minerals to enter the bloodstream — bypassing the digestive system entirely. That’s transdermal absorption. And it’s the entire reason this product exists.

The key: We use Zechstein magnesium chloride — sourced from a 250-million-year-old underground seabed in the Netherlands — which has superior dermal bioavailability compared to other forms of magnesium. Then we enhanced it with naturally occurring terpenes (plant compounds that act as penetration enhancers) to carry the minerals deeper through the skin barrier.

Getting the terpenes to play nicely with a highly concentrated magnesium chloride solution was one of the biggest challenges of the reformulation — and the breakthrough that made everything else possible.

Why this replaces your Epsom salts

If you’ve ever lugged a bag of Epsom salts to the tub, waited for them to dissolve, and dealt with the gritty residue after — you know the drill.

This is a liquid. Shake. Pump. Done. It dissolves instantly, leaves no residue, and 4–6 pumps equals two full cups of traditional Epsom salts.

Magnesium Bath Enhancer - Esker

But here’s the real difference: traditional Epsom salts use magnesium sulfate, which has a much lower rate of dermal absorption. Our formula uses magnesium chloride — a form the body absorbs far more efficiently — supercharged with terpenes to carry it deeper. You’re not just making bath time easier. You’re making it actually work.

What’s inside

Magnesium Chloride (Zechstein) — Superior dermal absorption. Supports muscle recovery, relaxation, and mineral rebalancing.

Sea Salt — Enhances mineral penetration and circulation.

Eucalyptus — Anti-inflammatory with respiratory benefits.

Palo Santo — Adaptogenic stress response support.

Lavender — Clinically proven nervous system regulation.

Natural Terpenes — Plant-derived penetration enhancers for deeper mineral delivery.

How to use it

1. Shake well

2. 4–6 pumps into the bath

3. Soak

It sold out before. It’s coming back.

Nearly two years of reformulation. Same powerful concentration. Now stable, scalable, and ready for everyone. Don’t miss it this time.

Dry brushing is exactly what it sounds like: you take a brush with natural, stiff bristles and brush your dry skin in long, sweeping strokes before you shower. The gift she should receive at this hour is a bath — and there is a real, biological reason it works better at night than at any other point in the day. The body's core temperature rises in the bath and falls again about an hour after she steps out, and that drop is one of the strongest cues the brain reads as a signal to sleep.
